A third consultation would be processed with regard to the increase in urban buses fares.

Addition to the consultations proposed by Iniciativa Ciudadana (Citizen´s Initiative foe its Spanish name) and the collective Ciudadan@a for Guayaquil (Citizens for Guayaquil), representatives of the Federation of Drivers of Ecuador promote a third consultation, which raises two questions on rising bus fares.

Last Thursday, the National Electoral Council (CNE), shoud have approved the referendum proposed by the Federation of Drivers of Ecuador as provided by the council president Juan Pablo Pozo, but the meeting could not take place.

Five items would be taken into consideration, among these the “resolution regarding the delivery request of an application format for a referendum in the Guayaquil county.”

Gelacio Mora, representative of the group Citizens’ Initiative disagreed, because “It is a way to contradict who are truly determined so that people rule in a sovereign way.”
