The first International Meeting of Customs Agents took place yesterday in Guayaquil, where about 300 customs agents from Mexico, Uruguay, Colombia, Argentina and other Latin American countries participated.
In the event the diverse experiences of the agents in their respective countries were addressed and how the use of technology streamlines foreign trade procedures and the challenges of their respective jurisdictions.
Meanwhile, Alfonso Rojas, president of the Association of Professional Customs Agents of America (Asapra), urged to develop an open trade. “We have to open up to trade and thereby we will grow,” he said, highlighting the progress of Ecuador in customs matters with the Ecuapass system, in operation since 2013.
