Holiday will have acceptable roads and varied climate

Posted On 27 Mar 2013

Due to the holiday of Holy week, which begins on Friday and ends next Sunday, the different provinces of Ecuador will receive thousands of tourists who may drive across roads in acceptable state, and under a varied climate.

On the coast, specifically in the beach areas,  high tides and waves are expected , although the weather conditions will be optimal, because the rain will be scarce; unlike the interior zones where there will be rainy weather, according to Carlos Naranjo, director of the National Institute of meteorology and hydrology (Inamhi, for its Spanish acronym).

According to Naranjo, in the Andean region, on the other hand, the situation will be unstable; there the precipitations will remain and will increase in some sectors, while in the Amazon the highest incidence would be in the North and Centre, where heavy rains in the foothills of the eastern cordillera are expected and from the Amazon basin.

Carlos Naranjo, also explains that in the coast there is a decrease in the intensity of the rains, while in the Highlands it will increase in April, and that’s why  there were thunderstorms yesterday in Quito, Tulcan and hail fell in Riobamba last Thursday, which is related to an intense heat and the presence of moisture in the environment.
