IEPI waiting for a new logo

IEPI and the logo scandal
This morning is the deadline that the Ecuadorian Intellectual Property Institute (IEPI) gave the company Maxtimsa to release five new designs for its new logo.
Last May 17, the IEPI was forced to remove from it’s official page that the agency logo designed, which consisted of a tricolor pencil due to it’s similarities with another logo that exists in an image bank website CanStochPhoto.
Maxtimsa, the advertising agency responsible for making the logo denied the apparent plagiarism and explained in a statement that “the whole creative process” for the final idea cost around $ 58,000.
“Maxtimsa has ten days in which they must present five new proposals,” said the former director of IEPI, Andres Ycaza Mantilla, who also added that a committee will be comprised of graphic designers, those who would choose the new logo of the Institute of Intellectual Property.
