Immigrant Resolution will Stop U.S. Program
Los Angeles City Council approved a resolution to support the laws that will allow local governments to participate in a controversial immigrant program. Such program deports the undocumented who have been apprehended. The initiative from Bernard Parks was approved with eleven votes against one.
Parks requested the support on favour of the program Safe Communities from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) so that the local governments can choose to participate in this resolution. Apparently several local and estate governments are defying this regulation.
Through this program, local police officers can electronically notify ICE every time they apprehend an undocumented. This will start a process that ends with a deportation. The undocumented will be processed by the Department of National Security, who will submit the fingerprints of the apprehended in the penal records of the FBI.
