Thousands of national and international flights from Argentina, Chile and Uruguay were cancelled due to the ash in the atmosphere after the eruption of the Chilean volcano Puyehue. This morning the ash cloud reached Argentina this forced several airlines to cancel their activities in the airport Jorge Newbery and Ezeiza.
The ash cloud moved 12,000 meters from the Southwest to Northwest and it had a width of 65 kilometers, according to a report of the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC). The airports of Neuquen, Bahia Blanca, Bariloche, Chapelco, Esquel and Puerto Madryn in the south remain closed.
In Chile the airline LAN cancelled once again its flights due to the movement of the ash cloud that has now reached Brazil. Despite the cancellation of several flights the weather authorities of Argentina and Chile believe that the eruption could end in a period of 10 days.
