“Immigrants Do Not Denounce Kidnappings”
During 2010, the National Migration Institute (INM) registered the kidnappings of 222 undocumented immigrants in Mexico, informed Salvador Beltran, commissioner of the organization.
This number is below the known statistics given by the National State Commission of Human Rights (CNDH) which documented over 10,000 kidnappings of illegal immigrants in just six months of the last year.
Last December two immigrants groups were kidnapped in Oaxaca, Mexico. At least 40 undocumented were from El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala who were kidnapped on December 16; so far there are no news of the missing parties. Meanwhile over nine Central America immigrants disappeared on December 21, one from El Salvador was murdered, three escaped, and five remain captive.
