Importers warn a price hike
Ecuadornews:
Importers foresee an increase in the costs of the imported products once they begin to pay the rate fixed by Customs, of USD 0.10 per article. The measure began to take effect yesterday, November 13, 2017, after Judge Gladys Martínez denied the request for precautionary measures to stop its application. The application was submitted by three business associations.
The judge argued that a decision of that type depends solely on Customs. The director of the Customs Office Mauro Andino explained yesterday in a television interview that the rate will not be applied to the goods that were in transit. It will apply to those shipped from yesterday. (I)
