In July the association agreement between EU, Russia and Ukraine will be signed
The European Union (EU) plans to sign in July with Kiev the first political meeting on the Association Agreement of ministerial nature with Russia and Ukraine.
This agreement sparked the current crisis with Moscow, according to what European officials indicated this Friday.
Having rejected ast week the Russian request to participate in trilateral discussions on the agreement and free trade between the EU and Ukraine, the agency would have indicated that this country was willing to maintain technical dialogues with Russia at ministerial level.
On Friday, the heads of state and government of the EU will sign trade and financial chapters of the association agreement with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and will also sign similar agreements with Moldova and Georgia.
At the July meeting the European side will be represented by Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht and they will attempt to discuss “application conditions” of the agreement and not a “modification,” indicated the European official.
