INEC will present a tool that determines the cost of a Housewife labor
The National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC for its Spanish acronym) yesterday announced that next week they will present a tool for assessing the work of a housewife. The system is called “Satellite Account of unpaid work”, said José Rosero, Director of INEC.
“It seeks to assess in terms resources, how much the work of a housewife contributes to the Ecuadorian economy. Within household there are activities that are productive as taking care of the children, cleaning the house and we do not value or visualize”, said Rosero.
On how the work of housewives will be assesed, the authority said: “For example, it is known the number of hours it takes a person for caring children and the value that is payed in the market for babysitting and that permits a rating. This is a method, but there are other methods we also use”.
To perform this evaluation data was taken from national accounts, surveys on time used for certain activities, among others.
