Posted On 19 Jun 2014
Last Wednesday the director of the Ecuadorian Standardization Institute (INEN for its Spanish acronym), Agustin Ortiz, said that on next September his office will begin the hiring process for the purchase of equipment intended for 13 new laboratories of product quality certification.
Currently the INEN owns 6 laboratories, but according to Ortiz, are not yet sufficient to control the quality of imports optimally.
Among the products to be reviewed in the new laboratories there are bicycles, shoes, gas and induction cookers and cosmetics. Ortiz hopes the laboratories to be operating in April 2015 and on a long-term plan, he hopes to enable 32 more.
