Israeli Scientist wins Nobel Prize of Chemistry
Posted On 05 Oct 2011
This Wednesday the Israeli scientist Daniel Shechtman was the winner of the Nobel Prize of Chemistry 2011 for his discovery of the quasicrystals. The scientist received the recognition for his notable work.
Schechtman proved that the structures that compose the quasicrystals are not periodic, meaning that these materials are bad energy conduits. However due to its resistance and hardness they are used as non-stick protective coating materials.
The chemistry award closed the scientific round of scientific achievements. The Nobel awards have a 1,1 million of Euros for each one of their six categories. (AV)
