The famous actor of big screen action, Jason Statham, came close to drowning in an accident on the set of Expendables 3, which started filming several days ago in the Bulgarian city Varna.

During a scene in an artificial lake in which it was expected that his stunt double do the action scene instead of Statham, he had to jump from a waterfall to the lake.

Statham insisted on doing the scene, although the stuntman was ready, the actor is a former diver and this jump was not very complicated. But something went wrong, Statham made the jump but did not come out to the surface. Soon several divers and members of the production team fished him out. Apparently the actor was in a semi unconscious when he hit the water.

Later the actor was taken to a hospital, where he was discharged after several hours under medical observation.

Currently Statham is already in Sofia to continue filming the action film that also includes Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford and the Spanish Antonio Banderas.

The film will be released in August 2014.
