Joffre Campaña pide indagar cómo Correa usa fondos públicos

El Universo Newspaper’s lawyer Joffre Campaña yesterday asked to the Comptroller General to conduct an audit and a special audit examination of the resources used by the Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa in the complaint to Diario El Universo.

La seven-page document addressed to the Comptroller Campaña suggests, for example, that the president arrived by vehicles of the state to the public hearings of that case. Moreover, in these proceedings he has been escorted “by a massive deployment of military and police members.” These facts despite Correa raised the lawsuit against El Universo in a personal capacity and not as an official.

In his request, Campaña adds that the president has used satuday broadcasts or certain press conferences to insult him because of his work on behalf of the directors of El Universo. “This desire for personal disqualification against me – writes Campaña- is done with public funds and has the sole purpose of achieving a favorable ruling.”
