Lara’s asylum in Panama is processed by his lawyer

Former Assemblyman Galo Lara, sentenced to prison for icomplicidad in a triple murder in 2011, at the time has the status of `refugee in porcess´ in Panama, according by his lawyer José Nelson Brandao.
Brandao said he had filed a refugee claim at the National Office for the Protection of Refugees of Panama and before the UNHCR in order to prevent Ecuador´s request for the extradition of Lara.
Last Friday it was submitted to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) a request for reconsideration to the revocation of the political asylum granted by Panama to Lara and which was withdrawn last week, confirmed Brandao.
Lara’s whereabouts are currently unknown to the lawyer, but he said he always maintains in contact with his client.
