Posted On 06 May 2014
The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, said it would be `unusual´ to hold a presidential election in Ukraine when the army is being deployed against the population.
Presidential elections are scheduled to be held on May 25 and regarding the subject, Lavrov said, `the situation in which the army is used against its own people, is quite unusual.´
`This is not Afghanistan, it is a completely different situation,´ he said, adding that the constitutional reforms promised by the new Ukrainian leaders would not take place in time for the elections.
Likewise, he ruled out the realization of a second international meeting to defuse the crisis in Ukraine.
