Lawyer askes to confirm if the vice-president´s father is in prison
Pedro Granja, lawyer of the victim’s mother, asked yesterday that prison authorities allow an oversight to confirm if Jorge Heriberto Glas Sr., sentenced to 20 years in prison for the rape of a minor, remains in prison at the Regional Zone 8 jail.
Due to health complications, Glas remained in the Police hospital in Guayaquil, since last May, when he was deported from Paraguay. However, last Wednesday his transfer to the prison was arranged after the health house gave him the medical discharge.
Granja explained he requested that an oversight of the international press verifies the permanence of the accused in jail, “because they had previously presented a double when he first came to the country as a deported and never extradited, despite having an arrest warrant.”
