Leader from “La Familia” cartel was arrested in Mexico

Mexican authorities arrested Jose Maria Chavez Magaña, alleged leader of the drug cartel `La Familia Michoacana´ in the central state of Mexico, as reported by Official sources.

Chavez Magaña alias `the Pony´, was arrested on Tuesday night during a raid of the Navy Ministry with the support of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR, prosecution), told to EFE a source of the latter institution.

Meanwhile, the head of the National Security Commission Monte Alejandro Rubido, confirmed the arrest of Chavez Magaña in a press conference, in which he stated that forensic tests conducted by the Criminal Investigation Agency of the PGR ratified the identity of the individual.

Chavez’s group is considered one of those responsible for the violence increase in the State of Mexico,the most inhabited in the country, with over 15 million inhabitants.
