Madonna Will Defend LGBT community Despite Russian Threats
The queen of pop, Madonna, was threatened by Russian authorities today. She was told that if she defends homosexuals during the concert that she will give in St. Petersburg in August, she would be punished.
According to Interfax, “If Madonna or one of the organizers violates the law, they will be punished: the singer could be fined with 5,000 rubles (170 dollars),” said Vitali Milónov, government deputy of the Russian Assembly of it’s second city.
The authorities in St. Petersburg recently passed a law banning homosexual propaganda, thus, some local personalities asked the singer to cancel her show.
“I don’t run away from adversity. I’ll talk about this ridiculous atrocity in my concert,” said Madonna. While the Russian Orthodox Church wants to expand this law to the whole country, which prohibits the dissemination of information about homosexuality, bisexuality, lesbianism, transsexualism and pedophilia.
