Mas asks promptly to Rajoy for negotiate date of official independence consultation
The President of the Autonomous Community of Catalonia, Artur Mas, warned yesterday that the Spanish president, Mariano Rajoy must accelerate talks to set the date of the official referendum with the aim of independence from Spain.
Mas assured that elections in key plebiscitary on the independence of Catalonia would be just and necessary if the Spanish government refused to negotiate on the date of the official consultation.
Convergence and Union (CiU) Mas’s party, will wait for President Rajoy, responds to the letter that will send Catalan leader asking a legally binding referendum.
“It can not over-extend in time, we talked about a week or two at most to this response,” said the coordinator of Convergence, Josep Rull in response to the issues raised by Mas.
Meanwhile, the leader of the Spanish opposition, Pedro Sánchez, from Spanish Socialist Workers Party (PSOE), yesterday asked Rajoy to leave “his immobility” to solve the political crisis in Catalonia.
