The university Medicine career will be the first to enter the assessment and accreditation process of the Council for Evaluation, Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Education (Ceaaces for its Spanish acronym). This will start in September as being thehighest social interest, according to authorities.
According to Francisco Cadenas, President of Ceaaces, two parameters will be evaluated: the learning environment and its result in the university.
In order for a university to accredit a career, it must exceed the minimum established in both parameters. If it is deficient in any of them, one year term will be established to make the improvements. If it fails, the career will exit the system
Leonardo Bravo, Executive Director of the Ecuadorian Association of Faculties of Medicine and Health, believes that the evaluation is positive Although he remarks: “It should taken into account the own specificities of the learning of patients management and human pain.” That is why, he will present his arguments in writing to the Ceaaces before the end of this week.
Among the students, they recognize the need for evaluation. Stefany Dávila, of the Central University, says that with this assessment the strengths of her faculty will be put in evidence. “The teachers who give us their experience, and pre-professional practice hours decisively contribute to our training,” she says
