The compatriots, 13 men, 11 women and a family unit of three, were part of a group of 84 people of different nationalities who were allegedly held in that place. The rescue would have occurred during an intervention carried out by the Deputy Attorney General’s Office of the State of Oaxaca.
In an official statement, it is clarified that this intervention carried out by the Mexican authorities has no relation to the unconfirmed complaints that were spread in recent days on social networks. Additionally, it was reported that all migrants were transferred to the Immigration Stay in Oaxaca de Juárez, Oaxaca.
During the operation, the Mexican police arrested three people, two women and a man, for the “probable commission of the crime of illegal deprivation of liberty” and those determined in a future trial.
Finally, it is ensured that the Consulate General of Ecuador in Mexico City is coordinating the necessary actions with the Mexican authorities, to provide consular assistance and protection to the 27 Ecuadorian citizens identified in the State of Oaxaca.
