Minister of Labour Relations said that remuneration ceilings will be amended in Municipalities

The Minister for Labour Relations Carlos Marx Carrasco said that the salary tables will be reviewed in the councils and that the new salary bases and caps for municipal officials would be ready.

Yesterday, Carrasco said that local governments have autonomy that will be respected, but their portfolio is the one that sets limits.

“We already had the remunerative ceilings. To be gentle we talked with the Municipal Association of Ecuador (AME for its Spanish acronym). They absolutely agreed,” he said.

Through Decree 601, President Rafael Correa had already established the reduction of salaries in the public sector in senior positions.
