Minister says that deficit of $ 758 million was reversed this year
The implementation of technical measures to boost the national industry and ensure the quality of the production would had represented a positive impact on the trade balance.
The Minister of Industry, Ramiro Gonzalez, said that the deficit of $ 758 million in the first half of 2013 was reversed to a surplus of $ 621 million reached in the same period of 2014.
The Minister said: “The behavior of the overall imports of the country is cyclical and the purchase levels of products regulated by Resolution 116, although they showed a reduction following the adoption of technical standards, today have reached their normal state, but with the great difference that now we have quality products”.
“The products that are imported, such as those produced in the country, have a similar quality, because the technical regulations are mandatory for both importers and National producers”, the authority concluded.
