Ministry shows axis of the trade agreement with the EU

After two months of signing the agreement between Ecuador and the European Union, the authorities of the Ministry of Foreign Trade showed the documents.

The document is reminiscent of the text signed between Colombia and Peru. The differences are mainly the footnotes of he Ecuadorian text.

For example, in protecting the popular and solidarity in economics; the footnote explains that the agreements should check the impact on the sector.

Another footnote points out that setting trade measures are allowed to take care of the local economy. Among the protections it also refers to the use of economic safeguards for a period that does not exceed one year in exceptional circumstances.

The Government explained that the document published on the website of the ministry is subjected to “legal review to verify its internal consistency and to ensure that the formulations are written in legal language”.
