The Prosecutor’s Office requested the detention of executive secretary of the Coast Montubio People Development Council (CODEPMOC for its Spanish acronym), Luis Alvarado Buenaño, for allegedly being involved in the case of false signatures.
Fabian Salazar, prosecutor in the case, apprehended Alvarado along with five suspects of unknown identity.
The apprehension act generated anger of the Montubio community, which threatened to strike if their leader was not released.
Alvarado argues that his arrest was due to political jealousy because they want to stop his nomination as Assemblyman for the 4th district of Guayas, “they don’t want to give us our right that we Montubios have to be candidates. We blame those Governorate people, of Alianza PAIS (AP), for my apprehension. That’s how they treat us, miserables! “He said. (MZ)
