National Assembly resumed the debate on drug prevention law

Tomorrow in the plenary of the National Assembly in the second and final debate on the draft Organic Law for the Integral Prevention of the Socio Economic Phenomenon of Drugs and the Regulation and Control of the Use of Substances Subject to Control the tratment will be resumed.

The legislation, among its points, welcomes the judgment of the President, Rafael Correa, so that the National Council of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (CONSEP) is no longer in the hands of the Attorney General and will become part of th structure of the Executive branch management.

It also includes a general provision authorizing the National Health Authority to approve the planting, cultivation and harvesting of plants containing active ingredients of drugs and psychotropic substances exclusively for the production of drugs, medical and non-medical scientific research.
