Posted On 05 Jun 2011
Sergei Ivanov, the Russian Deputy Prime Minister, stated that NATO is one step from deploying troops in Libya as a move to remove Muammar al Gaddafi from power.
This Sunday Ivanov attended an Asian security conference in Singapore to treat a United Nations resolution to protect civilians and shut down the Libyan air space, this would lead to a land operation.
British and French attack helicopters attacked for the first time inside Libya on Saturday. NATO airstrikes have protected the outgunned rebels from being overrun by Gaddafi forces. The rebels haven’t being able to mount an effective offensive against the Libyan dictator.
