Nebot defends his development model
Jaime Nebot, Guayaquil Mayor, said in interview with Ecuavisa that the last rains coincided with high tides, and that that was the reason why flooding happened in some sectors, stressing that they can’t be avoided by any infrastructure when these phenomena occur and stated that the proof of this is that these events occur also in other countries.
Nebot said that the competence of the sewer was assumed by the municipality five years ago, before that Italia was in government hands, and that there were three sites in Guayaquil, whose level is very low, which were flooded and that after a few hours the amount of water decreased . This was a response to the expressions of President Rafael Correa, in the sense that a not successful model is being carried out in Guayaquil.
During the interview he also mentioned that there are currently more provinces in Ecuador facing floods. “‘ ‘, ‘Seven provinces remain under water’.?” “The Concordia, Chone, Manabí, Esmeraldas, El Oro to Azuay under water, then what happens in Guayaquil by exception is a not successful model, then what happens in the rest of the country is a disaster”, said.
The Mayor added that if he lists what has been achieved during his tenure as Mayor,,has yo be done “in a larger and heavier broadcast than Correa’s, abusing the benevolence of the collective media and the patience of the people”.
