New earthquake aftershock was felt in Esmeraldas

The morning of Friday, June 24, an earthquake of 4.1 degrees was recorded in the coastal area of Esmeraldas.

The quake took place at 04:38 am, according to the Geophysics Institute report, with its epicenter within 4 kilometers of Esmeraldas, and at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Residents of the area reported feeling more than one intense aftershock, Maria Cedeno commented on the Facebook fan page of the Geophysics Institute: “Today we felt a very strongly aftershock, we hope it does not happen again,” this intensified the fear left by the earthquake of last April 16.

According to this page so far a total of 1956 aftershocks have occurred.
