The fourteenth edition of the Chocolate, Cocoa and Coffee Fair will be held from June 28 to 30, 2024 in Quito, as announced by the Franco-Ecuadorian Chamber of Commerce and Industries (Ccifec).
The fair, organized by Ccifec since 2009, is an important stage to exhibit and promote products , as well as to show productive and industrial development in these sectors.
Since its creation, the fair has experienced “significant growth,” reported Ccifec, which considered that the meeting serves to recover and consolidate the quality of Ecuadorian cocoa and chocolate, as well as national coffee.
Activities of the chocolate fair in Ecuador
The fair will feature educational talks on ‘The Amazonian origin of cocoa’ or ‘The history of the ‘gold nugget’ in Ecuador’.
There will be conferences and round tables aimed at entrepreneurs in the sector such as ‘The challenges of the Green Deal for SMEs’ or ‘Strengthening the value chain in the cocoa and coffee sector’.
In addition, the organization confirmed that there will be more than 60 stands where specialized tastings can be held, tasting chocolates, coffee and other products derived from cocoa.
During the days that the exhibition lasts, three contests will also be held, including :
- ‘Ecuador in a bonbon’, which rewards the best chocolate bonbon
- The ‘Best Cup of Hot Chocolate’
- The ‘Best Served Cup of Filtered Coffee’
Ccifec has been organizing this fair for more than a decade under the idea that “the promotion and appreciation of both Ecuadorian cocoa, chocolate and coffee is key to continuing to strengthen the country’s economy.”
Products from Ecuador, benchmarks in the world
In this sense, the executive director of the institution, Fabien Przypolski, declared that “Ecuadorian cocoa has historically been a benchmark of quality in the world .”
He added that to maintain that status, currently “it is more important than ever that producers are encouraged , the fine aroma variety is protected and it continues to be promoted as a distinctive and sustainable product.”
Przypolski also mentioned the importance of motivating the local market for Ecuadorian chocolates.
Ccifec created this Chocolate, Cocoa and Coffee Show 14 years ago, inspired by the Paris Chocolate Show, with the aim of consolidating and enhancing the quality and recognition of this “native and ancestral fruit of the country.”
