OAS Secretary asks Francis to mediate between the government and the opposition in Ecuador
Thursday, the secretary of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, asked Pope Francis to mediate tensions between the government of Rafael Correa and the opposition in his next visit to Ecuador.
“Pontifex_es before your imminent arrival in Ecuador we urge the dialogue with the Government of@MashiRafael (Rafael Correa) and the opposition in the framework of democratic institutionality,” wrote today Almagro in his account of the social network Twitter.
The Pope will begin on Sunday, July 5 his second trip to Latin America, the region with more Catholics in the world, with stops in Ecuador, Bolivia and Paraguay.
