Obama requests $ 3.700 billion for controlling migration of minors
Barack Obama, U.S. President has asked to the Congress this Tuesday $ 3.700 million to deal with the conflict of the massive influx of Central American minors migrants without visas who cross the border with Mexico, according to the White House.
Washington will make the request to congressional leaders in the coming hours and the funds will be used to expand the resources for the centers where the minors are detained, send more immigration judges to the border and increase security efforts in Mexico and Central America.
“We are taking steps to protect the due process (of children), but also to accelerate the deportation of those who do not meet the requirements to stay in the country,” said a high U.S. official, who requested anonymity.
The funds include $ 1.533 million for the Department of Homeland Security, 1,800 million for the Health and Human Services, 300 million for the State Department and 64 million for Justice.
