Oil registered a small rise but remains in less than $ 50
The price of a barrel of oil closed this Wednesday’s session registering a rise in New York, driven by Wall Street and an unexpected decline in crude stocks in the United States. However, the oil price remains under $ 50.
A barrel of “light sweet crude” (WTI) for February delivery gained 72 cents, being at USD 48.65 on the New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex).
Similarly, in London, the prices of the North Sea Brent for the same delivery stabilized, going up by five cents, at USD 51.15 a barrel on the Intercontinental Exchange.
“It was an interesting session,” were the words of Phil Flynn of Price Futures Group, who noted that the market has managed “not to collapse, supported somewhat by the increase in the stock market, where the Dow Jones rose.”
