Opposition: Changes in the constitution must be made via referendum
Opposition Movements insist that a referendum is required to make way for indefinite reelection through a constitutional amendment processed by the Assembly.
The PSC (Social Christian Party) Executive Director Alfredo Serrano believes that the constitutional amendment is not appropiate because it has ethical, legal and political order issues. Serrano considers that “the constitutive elements of the state are changed, the state structure.”
Diego Salgado, CREO Assemblyman suggests the citizenship to collect a million signatures to call a referendum that approves or not indefinite reelection at the polls.
Salgado assured that his political group has not yet decided to support the initiative, but the issue is a first step to convince “those who defend the alternation of power.”
