Paraguayan are still displaced by floods after two months
Posted On 28 Jul 2014
Around 90,000 people are displaced from their homes since two months ago in Asunción, Paraguay, after suffering the floods in several regions.
Both the National Emergency Secretariat (SEN for its Spanish acronym) as NGOs emphasize that sanitation and access to water are the main deficiencies of the residents.
Some of the victims are seeking to return to their work activities by opening stores or hair salons, but most have to be devoted to improve their housing or get food and water.
“Poor sanitation can affect the health of people”, said the head of the Department of Disaster Response of the Paraguayan Red Cross, Ariana Bernal.
