Alberto Dahik returns to Ecuador
Posted On 24 Dec 2011
Alberto Dahik, former Vice President of Ecuador in the government of Sixto Duran-Ballen, arrived this afternoon to Quito, after living in exile for over 5 years in Costa Rica.
His flight arrived just after 16:30 from Cali, Colombia.
Dahik returns to Ecuador after the First Criminal Chamber of the National Court dismissed the detainment order against him, with the condition that he has to present himself every 15 days in the secretariat of this dependence.
However, his trial for embezzlement while he was vice president of Ecuador (1992-1995) still continues. The last return of former vice president was in April 2005, during the government of Lucio Gutiérrez.
