Philip of Bourbon will assume the crown from June 16
The Congress has provided that the proclamation of Philip of Bourbon takes place in the Hemicycle on June 16, at a solemn meeting of the Cortes.
At the moment, the Spanish Government shall prepare a law to regulate the procedure for the succession to the Crown, which shall be processed by means of urgency procedure and will determine each of the steps for the Prince Philip to assume as Head of State.
This Tuesday, the Executive will take the first step with the approval of the draft organic law through which the abdication shall be accepted and the succession will be regulated. While in the afternoon, the General Committee shall evaluate the organic law.
The Constitution requires that changes in the Crown are made through an organic law. The relay of the Crown will culminate with Prince oath’s before the Congress and the Senate and his proclamation as Philip VI.
