Philip reiterates his desire to continue serving Spain
Prince Philip gave his first speech as the future king. He did it in the monastery of San Salvador de Leyre (Navarra). He mentioned the Catalan sovereignty challenge as one of his greatest purposes.
“It is evident that this day has a special significance … Let me, honoring the parliamentary procedure initiated, to reiterate my commitment and conviction to devote all my strength, with hope and eagerness to the exciting task of continuing serving the Spaniards, to our beloved Spain: a nation, a social, politically united and diverse community that is rooted in an ancient history,” he said.
Philip has traveled six times to Catalonia this year seeking to improve the dialogue.
The future king took advantage of his speech at the Prince of Viana awards ceremony, granted to the cappuccino historian Tarcisio de Azcona to make a call for unity.
“In times of difficulty, as we are going through, the experience of the past embodied in history, teaches us that only by joining our efforts, putting the common good to particular interests and promoting the initiative, the research and the creativity of each person, we will progress toward better scenarios, ” said Philip.
