Pope Francis “excommunicates” the Italian Mafia

papa-fraciscoPope Francis said yesterday in front of Catholics gathered in Calabria (southern Italy) that the local mafia, “who worship evil and despises the common good” is “excommunicated”.

“You have to fight it. So many young people ask for that (…) Those who have chosen this bad route are excommunicated”, Bergoglio said.

The Pope denounced the suffering of child victims of the Mafia,and gave a message of solidarity to mothers and grandmothers in a local jail.

“Never again should a child endure such suffering”, he concluded.
