Pope Francis spoke with the family of beheaded journalist
Posted On 23 Aug 2014
According to the culture editor of the Jesuit magazine America, James Martin, Pope Francisco spoke by phone with the family of American journalist James Foley, who was beheaded this week by the jihadists that had kidnapped him.
“The family was excited and very grateful,” Martin wrote in a twitter message, who is Jesuit just like the pope.
The information, Martin said, “comes from a Vatican official who gave me permission to share the news. James Foley, may he rest in peace.”
Foley apparently kidnapped in late 2012 while covering the conflict in Syria, had graduated from Marquette University, a Jesuit institution in Milwaukee (Wisconsin).
