Posted On 21 Jul 2014
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, ordered his troops to stop their operations around the area where the plane of Malaysia Airlines was shot down in eastern Ukraine, Interfax news agency reported.
This Monday, during a visit to the Malaysian ambassador in Kiev, Poroshenko said: “I ordered [Kiev forces] to stop carrying out military operations or opening fire within the 40-kilometer radius of the site in order to ensure safety of the expert mission.”
The decision, however, does not cover Donetsk, which is situated about 60 km from the site of the tragedy.
Pro-Russian separatists and the Kiev authorities, carry over three months in an armed conflict in eastern Ukraine. Kiev accuses Moscow of supporting the insurgents.
