Prefect Jairala respects PAIS position and cares about Guayas territorial disputes
Following the decision of the legislative block of Alianza PAIS party of non extending the deadline for the resolution of territorial disputes, the Prefect of Guayas Jimmy Jairala says he respects that position, but that the underlying problem is not the term.
“I respect the position of PAIS. And if they decide not to support it, and if the government decides not to support the extension of the deadline, they will not support it. But that does not influence in the slightest our cordial relationship with PAIS Assembly members and with the President … My problem is Guayas and at this moment we continue to focus as much as possible to reach strengthened in April 2015,” Jairala said.
He was based on several facts to sustain the request for an extension of two years which gives the Boundary Determination Law to resolve disputes and expires in mid-April 2015.
Among these is: “No province has 14 conflicts with neighboring provinces, no province adjoins with six provinces in conflict with Guayas, and no province has 52 internal interdicts between cantons,” he sustained.
