The prefect of Guayas, Jimmy Jairala, who sued the director of the Creando Oportunidades political movement (CREO), Cesar Monge, failed to appear at the first of 17 hearings to be conducted in a similar number of criminal charges by defamatory libel.
The hearing, which took place in the Judicial Criminal Guarantees Unit, North 2, located in the Albán Borja Mall, started at 09:00 and ended three hours later.
Alembert Vera, plaintiff’s attorney, confirmed his argument that there is the crime of defamatory libel that has affected the honor and image of his client. “The quantification can not be less than 50 million dollars,” he said.
