Presidency must pay $ 6 million to Gama TV for broadcasting of 150 “sabatinas”

Posted On 12 Oct 2018

Ecuadornews:

The Secretary of Communication, Andrés Michelena, announced on Thursday that the Presidency of the Republic should pay to the media seized Gama TV a total of $ 6 million for the transmission of 150 Saturdays ordered in the Government of Rafael Correa (2007-2017). The notification was made last week by the Comptroller’s Office.

Michelena arrived this morning at the General Prosecutor’s Office in Quito, to render a version of the previous investigation that is conducted around the management of public and seized media. The diligence, within the complaint filed by César Monge, director of CREO, was not given and was re-issued for next Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.

According to Michelena, the General Secretary of the Presidency Eduardo Jurado has delivered the office to the Ministry of Finance and they should process that payment of $ 6 million for Gama TV. On October 24, Andrés Michelena made the complaint that Saturdays generated a loss of $ 6 million to the Gama TV channel.

“For every penny that comes out of the fiscal coffers (for the issue of Gama TV) a process of repetition will be requested for the responsible officials. (…) We will send the Procurator a process of repetition against those responsible for these $ 6 million that were executed in an abusive manner, “said Michelena, while he said that the former communications secretary, Fernando Alvarado, and two ex-managers of Gama TV are in the spotlight.

Michelena also filed orders in the Comptroller’s Office to analyze the purchase process of El Tiempo newspaper, the purchase of $ 3 million in transmitters for Ecuador TV and several other cases that, according to him, are advancing in that organization.

(The action of repetition allows recovering from the officials indicated the reimbursement or reimbursement of what was paid by public entities). (I)
