Preventive detention for 12 women and 14 men after protest in Saraguro county
Last Monday a group of indigenous were arrested in the Saraguro county by acts of violence at the Cuenca and Loja highway and in the center of Saraguro county.
The flagrancy hearing was held yesterday, the defense appealed the preventive detention and the judge will have up to three days for resolution.
Residents denounced and alleged use of excessive gas by the police and the use of sticks, stones and pyrotechnic rockets against them, which led to people, including children and the elderly to suffer symptoms of asphyxia.
Abel Sarango Saraguro county mayor, elected by the AER movement (Regional Action for Equity) pro-government, denounced that the police and the military chased some people.
