Prosecutor’s Office opened investigation for hunting and slaughtering of turtles in Galapagos
The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) confirmed the opening of investigations to find those responsible for the hunting and slaughter of four giant tortoises in Galapagos. The incident occurred in the Wetlands Complex.

The Specialized Unit for Crimes against the Environment and Nature (Uidmen) of the Prosecutor’s Office ordered proceedings, such as taking versions of officials from the Galapagos National Park, appointment of experts in animal necropsy, recognition of signs, among others.
There are versions that two park rangers and a former park ranger would be the ones indicated in an internal report of the Galapagos National Park as consumers of giant tortoise meat. In addition, they were also singled out for killing turtles in Isabela.
