Posted On 04 Jul 2017
Ecuadornews:

The honor of Rafael Correa was not injured by the journalist Martin Pallares, nor was it discredited. The Judge of Criminal Offenses of Pichincha Fabricio Carrasco took this resolution yesterday after a 4 hours hearing. Pallares was sued by former President Correa for allegedly uttering expressions of discredit through an opinion article published on the Internet website 4Pelagatos.
In the sentence, the judge ratified the state of innocence of Pallares, who faced a sentence of between 15 and 30 days of jail, according to the article 396 of the Integral Criminal Code. “I think today the fate of journalists and Ecuadorians was put at risk, we have the freedom to comment and criticize public authorities, especially the Odebrecht case,” said Pallares.
