Rains could affect 22 provinces of Ecuador with landslides or floods

The Risk Management Secretariat reported that the cantons of 22 provinces of Ecuador could be affected by the rainfall that will occur between this Wednesday, January 11, and Thursday, January 12, 2023.

According to the forecast, the rains will generate mass movements or floods in different parts of the country. The inter-Andean zone located in the north of the country is the one that is most threatened, followed by the northern zone of the Amazon.

The report details the road axes that could also be affected, so that drivers and travelers know and take alternative and preventive measures.

Recommendations for driving in the rain

It is recommended to take the following precautions in case you have to drive in the rain.

-Perform car maintenance prior to the trip

-Keep brakes, tires and shock absorbers in good condition.

-Reduce speed

-Increase the distance between vehicles

As well as respect traffic signals.
