Rebels Defend Aleppo from Syrian Regime

Aleppo under siege
Today Syrian rebels fought back the regime forces in Aleppo, this leaves a growing concern about the risks of reprisals against civilians in the country’s commercial capital.
The government forces were supported by tanks and helicopter gunships that moved on southwestern Aleppo where rebels concentrated their forces after seizing the northern part of the city on July 20. According to the Syrian Observatory of Human Rights, 29 people perished today during the crossfire, this number contributes to the 140 that died nationwide.
According to activists and other groups of human rights the death toll has increased to 20,000 casualties since the uprising against Bashar al-Assad started in March 2011. Civilians crowded their basements seeking refuge from the bombings. AV
